Donna and the Aspinauts

{June 13, 2008}   Welcome fellow travellers.

Manic Bender by Donna Williams Donna and the Aspinauts formed in 2008. The band comprises of Donna Williams on vocals, Russell Edwards on keyboard, Earl Wolff on bass guitar, Wil Cole on drums, and out lead guitarist, Andrew Sherman.

Donna is a singer-songwriter with recorded two albums available on http://www.cdbaby.com, two tracks from which feature in a TV series, Things You Taught Me. She began performing live in 2007. Her home site is at http://www.donnawilliams.net .

Russell, also a composer previously spent 3 years in a Melbourne band before joining the Aspinauts.

Earl Wolff has been a session muso for eons with one of his claims to fame being that he once played nude in an all nude band at a naturist’s convention

Wil Cole is a professional drummer with decades of experience and The Aspinauts is one of several bands he drums with.

Andrew Sherman, our lead guitarist is our youngest member and won Battle of the Bands in his district.

The name, the Aspinauts is a derivation of Aspie and Autie, slang associated with the autism spectrum. The band performs a combination of catchy diversity friendly alternative pop-rock songs and avant garde beat poetry with a socio-enviro message .  We’re happy with challenging stereotypes, breaking down social barriers, promoting equality and tackling the tough subjects with theatre, surrealism and satire.

Greetings from a fellow traveller on the other side of the hemisphere.

(For the benefit of Earl, Andrew, Mr Dan and Russell) I’m another writer, of poetry, adapted songs and prose. A.K.A. The Travelling Poet, I’m Stuart Vallantine, a slightly overweight daft railway fanatic, and full time geek (Greater Manchester Transport a speciality). As with Donna’s website, my website has original examples of poetry and prose.

The very best of luck to you all in this venture. Bye for now,

Stuart.

(Hope this works this time)

To all at The Aspinauts (Donna, Russell, Earl, Mr Dan and Andrew) the very best of luck. At last, we are in the midst of a new musical genre: ‘Aut-Rock’. :)

(For the benefit of Russell, Earl, Mr Dan and Andrew), I’m a fellow traveller, albeit from the northern hemisphere. A.K.A ‘The Travelling Poet’, I’m a (slightly overweight) full time geek (mainly Greater Manchester Transport – hence my WordPress avatar), rail enthusiast, poet and visual artist. I have worked with Donna on three of her lectures.

The journey is under way, and we are nervously waiting in the departure lounge for our plane (or at the bus stop).

Bye for now,

Stuart.
